Several shades of blonde run through EL-8HD, broken up with brown tones underneath. That depth is what stops a blonde wig reading as a wig. A single flat blonde has nothing for light to catch, so it sits on the head like a block of colour. Layer brown beneath blonde and the piece behaves like hair — lighter where the sun would lift it, deeper underneath, changing as it moves.
The brown tones do something else worth knowing about. They give the blonde a grown-out base, so as the piece sits against your own hair there is no hard demarcation at the roots. It looks lived-in rather than freshly coloured.
The face frame
Lighter blonde is placed deliberately around the face — at the temples, along the parting and through the front sections.
This is the single most flattering thing you can do with blonde. It brightens the complexion and draws the eye to the face rather than to the hairline. And practically, it breaks up the front edge of the wig, so instead of a uniform line across the forehead there is variation and movement.
Combined with bleached knots — where each strand is hand-tied to the lace and the knot lightened so it does not show as a dark dot against the mesh — the hairline reads as hair growing from scalp rather than hair sitting on top of it. That detail matters more on blonde than any other shade, because dark knots against pale hair are visible from across a room.

European hair is finer, lighter and softer than the Asian-sourced hair used in most wigs, and it blends naturally against Caucasian and Mediterranean hair types without the thick, doll-like contrast at the join.
It also takes this kind of colour work properly. Multi-tonal blonde requires lifting and toning at several different points through the hair, and finer hair handles that processing better than coarse hair when it is done well.

Living with a blonde
Lightened hair is porous and picks up brassiness from hard water, chlorine and heat. Three habits keep the tones clean:
A purple toning shampoo every third or fourth wash, never every wash — over-toning flattens the dimension you paid for and can pull it lilac
Lower heat settings than you would use on a darker piece
Rinse after swimming, before chlorine has time to sit
When it starts to warm up, a colourist can re-tone it. It cannot be lifted lighter.
